Physical and Mental Health Sustained at Princeton Windrows
Before Bill Besser retired as an OB-GYN at Princeton Medical Center, he was on the hospital's Bioethics Committee and also served as a board member of Planned Parenthood. While raising their three children and managing the busy household, Ruth Besser was involved with the American Field Service (AFS), as well as Student Exchange Programs and the International Center, both at Princeton University. She still works as a docent tour leader with the Grounds of Sculpture, a 42-acre sculpture park and museum located in nearby Hamilton, New Jersey.
When it came time to retire, the Bessers had clear ideas for their future life and Princeton Windrows fit the bill. Their primary goals were to maintain vibrant physical and mental health and live in a setting with strong community spirit and camaraderie. Their retirement community needed to be located in the Princeton area as well so they could keep supporting the causes they believe in, as well as keep participating in indoor and outdoor interests and activities. Bill is an avid tennis and golf player and has taken twice-weekly art classes offered at Windrows, while Ruth volunteers at "The Corner Store." They both play duplicate bridge and golf at a local course.
Having no maintenance worries for their property is a huge relief, so the Bessers always have ample free time to spend elsewhere. They enjoy weekly trips to local gardens and museums. They have found the community support and caring engagement of the residents to be wonderful and the staff members uniformly receive praise for being well-trained, polite, and helpful.
Ruth believes that if one has both time and curiosity, there are innumerable options for exploring the area and developing new interests. The historic sites, parks and museums in Princeton are plentiful and exceptional....and the shopping isn't bad, either! Since you're never too old to learn something new, the Bessers often attend lectures with the many educational options available within the community. Their children are delighted that they are exceedingly happy with their move to Princeton Windrows and consider that decision a sound one. They love to visit Ruth and Bill in their new Villa home.
